Frequently asked.

Short answers to common questions. If yours isn’t here, reach out.

How does refutor score my arguments?

Scoring depends on the mode. Coach rates each turn on Logic, Evidence, Clarity, Persuasion, and Flow (1–10). Jury (Mediator) rates each speaker on Clarity, Reasoning, Evidence, Clash, Weighing, and Flow (1–10), then totals those scores for the verdict. Claim and evidence checks can adjust Jury results when enabled.

What's the difference between Counter, Jury, and Analysis?

Counter is live practice — you spar with refutor by voice or text. Jury (our Mediator flow) runs a judged debate between people: each side is submitted privately and refutor delivers a shared verdict. Analysis scores a standalone argument you type, paste, or upload — no debate required.

Can I use refutor offline?

Not yet. Scoring and voice run in the cloud. Saved sessions stay in your History once they are committed; an unfinished draft on a page can be lost if you refresh before saving.

Does refutor have political opinions?

No. Prompts are written to stay neutral and argue the case in front of it, not a party line. If you find a response that feels biased, email support@refutor.com — we treat those as bugs.

Will AI replace human judges?

No. refutor is built for practice, mediation, and feedback — a companion, not a replacement for competitive panels or formal adjudication when stakes are high.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Open Profile settings and manage billing in the Stripe portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. No call-to-cancel.

Do you offer student or educator discounts?

Checkout supports promotion codes when we run one. Schools, universities, and classrooms should contact us for team or enterprise pricing — we do not auto-verify student status in-app.

What payment methods do you accept?

Card payments through Stripe Checkout (and wallet options Stripe enables for your region, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay when available). Organization billing can also be invoiced for teams.

Are my arguments used to train AI?

Your debate content is processed by our AI provider to run the product. It is not used to train third-party models under our agreements, and we do not sell your arguments. We may keep anonymised aggregate analytics (for example usage counts) to improve reliability.

What about voice recordings?

Voice is transcribed for the feature you used, then the original upload is deleted as soon as processing finishes (orphaned uploads are swept within hours). Transcripts and session text stay with your account until you delete them.

GDPR / data export?

Export your data from Profile settings → Export my data (JSON of profile, sessions, patterns, and related stats). You can schedule account deletion there too; after a 30-day cooling-off window the account is permanently removed (sign back in to cancel).
